Tully (WSYR-TV) - State Police are On the Lookout tonight for a woman Caught on Tape taking a bank bag containing more than a million dollars in deposited checks. This happened last week at the Alliance Bank in Tully. The suspect is blonde, thin, and no taller than 5-foot-4.
Surveillance camera footage shows the woman entered the bank and took the bag right around closing time when the front doors weren’t properly secured and no employees were behind the front desk.
State Police officer Jack Keller says it may have been a crime of opportunity.
"We're not sure if her intent was eventually to grab that bag, but we're trying to figure out exactly what her intent was. Was she about to do some banking for herself, is she a bank customer, or was she someone passing through the area," Keller said.
Police say all payments on the checks have been stopped and bank customers have been notified. There have been no known attempts to cash any of the checks.
Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at (315) 677-9971.
