DeWitt (WSYR-TV) -- If you're a cyclist, then you might relate to how Honor Sherman felt when she discovered someone had stolen her prized and very expensive bike. DeWitt police think some sharp-eyed neighbors may be able to help her out.
Sherman has a passion for cycling and she's gearing up for her first half ironman triathlon in September, but she's just been dealt a huge setback.
Last Wednesday, just before 5 p.m., while Honor was in Shoppingtown Mall, a man in the parking lot moved in on her bike. He ripped it off of her bike rack and raced off with it, with no one stopping him.
Honor is still in disbelief, "It's a racing bike, a triathlon bike, I've raced with it in the triathlon this season. I've had some personal records with it, and competed in my first Olympic fitness triathlon with so it was special to me," she said.
Unfortunately, we only see a glimpse of the man who took the bike in surveillance video from police, but we can give you a detailed description of Honor's racing bike.
It's a gray, small-framed Cervelo P2-S-L, with a distinctive pink seat, with pink tape on the handlebars, an XLab drink container on the back.
Honor is holding out hope that she'll be reunited with her Cervelo that to Honor has a lot of heart and history.
Fortunately, Honor's friends at Syracuse Bicycle are setting her up with a new bike, but training with a new bike, with the race just weeks away, isn't easy.
