Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Sometimes after we put you on On the Lookout for suspects, we hear from the victims. This is one of those times. A woman whose purse was stolen shares her story.
Despite some pretty good surveillance photos, the case remains unsolved. It’s been one year and Syracuse Police still haven’t been able to identify the thief in this case.
Darcy Snetsinger lost more than a few credit cards when her purse was stolen from her shopping cart at the Salvation Army thrift store in Syracuse. She lost her sense of security.
“They have your address to your home. They have your keys to your house. They have your keys to your car. So you have to find a way home, and then you have to live wondering if they are going to unlock your house and come in, now that they know where you live,” Snetsinger said.
She wrestled with concerns about identity theft, the loss of personal belongings and the cost of having to replace her license. To Darcy this was much more than a petty purse snatching.
“If she got away with it this time, what's going to stop her from another ten more times,” Snetsinger said. “I want to see who did this, to become accountable for it, and realize what it can do to someone's life.”
Darcy stepped forward to share her story to warn others. She hopes someone watching will step up and turn the female suspect in.
Syracuse Police say the suspect paid for hundreds of dollars worth of Merchandise at Kohl’s in Fayetteville with the stolen credit card and forged the victim’s signature.
