DeWitt (WSYR-TV) -- DeWitt Police have released surveillance video of a heist that happened last Wednesday at the Jewelry on James store and they say the suspects are the same men who struck five other businesses that same morning.
Police say just like the other break-ins, the burglars’ entrance into the jewelry store on James Street was extremely bold – and it happened fast.
In just under two minutes, police say the suspects were able to get into the store, hop over the counters and grab the goods. The suspects got away with $5,000 worth of jewelry. In the video, they’re seen leaving the store through the same gaping hole they made to get in.
Police are also giving us a look at the getaway vehicle. It’s a dark colored SUV. In the video you can see it parked outside the store during the heist. When they’re done getting what they’re after, they hop in and take off.
“In all of the instances they used force to get in by throwing a rock or a cinder block. Some of the instances they just broke the windows…when the alarm went off, they ran. But we have seen several instances where they actually go into the store,” explained Syracuse Police Sergeant Tom Connellan.
Take a good look at the surveillance video. If you recognize any of the suspects or the suspect vehicle, call Syracuse Police at 442-5222 or
