Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police are hoping SU fans can assist them in finding a thief who struck a store on Marshall Street earlier this month.

Police are asking SU visitors, students and employees to be “On the Lookout” for a thief caught on tape right before a robbery at the Verizon Wireless store February 2.

On the day of the robbery, the man was wearing an oversized, red hooded sweatshirt and a black baseball cap. Police say he wasn't after money, but instead grabbed an iPad that was on display.

“He steals an iPad from the store and when he's running out, an employee tries to stop him and he shoves the employee,” Syracuse Police Sergeant Tom Connellan said. The employee was not hurt.

Once outside the store, the suspect kept running. Detectives say they’ve learned the man hangs out on campus a lot, especially on street corners during SU games.

Police are asking anyone who may see him or know who he is to give them a call at 442-5222.
