Solvay (WSYR-TV) -- Police in Solvay are asking you to be “On the Lookout” for a suspect accused of stealing from a parked car in a Geddes Federal Savings and Loan parking lot.
Surveillance video caught the crime on tape, so police are hoping someone out there might recognize the suspect, or his vehicle.
The video shows the suspect as he cruises the bank parking lot looking to make a withdrawal, but not from the bank.
“From the vehicle footage we have what looks like he was just driving around looking for vehicles,” Solvay Police Officer James DiFulio told NewsChannel 9.
Once the suspect spots a vehicle, unlocked, with valuables inside - he walks across the parking lot and walks up to the bank – all part of his master plan.
“He walked to the bank, like he was going to make a bank purchase and returns back to the vehicle,” Officer DiFulio continued.
He’s then seen spending a few minutes inside the victim’s vehicle to steal some portable DVD players that were strapped to the headrest.
A good reminder that whether your car’s parked in your driveway, or in a busy parking lot, always lock up and take your valuables with you.
The suspect's vehicle has been described as a black, four-door Saturn Coupe and is missing a front hubcap.
