Brewerton (WSYR-TV) -- The Fugitive Task Force received a number of tips after we put viewers on the lookout Monday night for a suspected Dunkin' Donuts burglar.

One tip took them to an apartment building in Fulton where the tipster said Matthew D. Ray was staying, but they didn't find him there.

Authorities say Ray turned himself in to Fulton police a short time later.

Fugitive of the Week: Burglary suspect Matthew D. Ray

Brewerton (WSYR-TV) -- This week’s fugitive has a unique walk that got him busted for burglary, now he’s on the run.

The Fugitive Task Force is asking you to be “On the Lookout” for 30-year-old Matthew D. Ray, of Brewerton.

Ray admitted he burglarized a Dunkin’ Donuts store in Brewerton where he worked last May. And, according to police, he went through a lot of trouble doing so.

Sgt. Robert Conley, with the Fugitive Task Force says, “He entered the store while it was open, hid in a back room until closing, went through ceiling tiles and then went to the main office where he stole all the cash for the day.”

The crime was all caught on tape, so when employees viewed surveillance video they recognized him right away. And not by his face, because he was wearing a mask, but they say they knew it was him by his swagger.

After pleading guilty to burglary, he failed to appear in court and is now wanted by police.

“At one time he was arrested at a hotel at Carrier Circle on this charge, but since then we’ve checked hotels and have had no sighting of him,” Sgt. Conley said.

Police are hoping you know where they can find Ray. He’s 5’7” tall and 150 pounds. If have any information on his whereabouts call the confidential tip line at 473-7625.
