UPDATE -- Fugitive of the Week, 24-year-old Jason Mandarino, is no longer wanted. He's been taken into custody by Baldwinsville Police.
Further details have not been released.
Mandarino remains on probation.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force is putting you “On the Lookout” for a 24-year-old man who police say has made claims to friends that he doesn't want to go back to jail. They’re hoping you can help them find Jason Mandarino who's wanted for violating probation on burglary and criminal mischief charges.
Police say while on probation, Mandarino smashed his girlfriend's car with a baseball bat and ignored a court order to attend an alternative to domestic violence program. A warrant for Mandarino was issued in November 2011.
“He seems to be playing a little game with us. He's stated he doesn't want to go back to jail and what concerns us about somebody who doesn’t want to go back to jail is they might be in a vehicle and might get pulled over for something completely innocuous. The officer doesn’t know what’s going on and a pursuit ensues. That can put the public in danger, ” explained Fugitive Task Force Supervisor, Joe Ciciarelli.
The lastest information from police is that he could be hiding out in Baldwinsville, Jamesville or LaFayette.
Mandarino (pictured) is 5’10” tall and weighs 165 pounds. He’s been arrested five times on nine different charges.
If you have any information on Mandarino’s whereabouts, you’re asked to call the Fugitive Task Force at 473-7625.
