Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A woman with a violent history and 17 prior arrests is eluding police in Syracuse. A few tips have indicated that Devera Works is hanging out on Syracuse's east side, around Westcott and East Genesee Streets.
Works is currently wanted for criminal possession of stolen property, a family court violation and an older charge from 2006 for leaving her young children home alone.
"She is well aware that she is wanted by us," Sgt. John Savage said. "We've spoken to her family members and she's been eluding us."
Works is 5' 9" tall and weighs 125 pounds.
"There is some speculation she's involved in other criminal activity - that she's hanging out on the street," Sgt. Savage said.
Anyone who knows where she may be hiding is asked to make a confidential call to the Syracuse Police Warrant Squad at 442-5230.
