Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Fugitive Task Force says they received a record amount of tip calls regarding Matthew Morris, the fugitive profiled Tuesday on The Morning News.
Morris, who allegedly gave bogus North Side address to his probation officer, was accused of ignoring a court order to stay away from his ex-girlfriend.
Morris was previously convicted of criminal contempt for violating an order of protection.
The Task Force says tip calls led them to Kirkpatrick Street, where they found the fugitive in a home. Morris was captured as he attempted to jump out of a second story window.
He was set to be arraigned in Syracuse City Coirt on probation violation and criminal contempt charges.
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Neighbors on Syracuse's North Side may be able to help police find the Fugitive of the Week who is accused of ignoring a court order to stay away from his ex-girlfriend, again.
He gave a North Side address to his probation officer, but he’s not there. Police say it's important they find him, now that new arrest warrants have been issued.
Earlier this year, Matthew Morris was convicted of criminal contempt for violating an order of protection. He was sentenced to three years probation and now he's in trouble again. “He's currently wanted by Onondaga County for a probation violation, and wanted by city police on a criminal contempt warrant as well,” said Chris Amoia from the Fugitive Task Force.
The Fugitive Task Force has been checking addresses and hangouts on Syracuse's North Side, with no leads on where Morris may be living. “I know detectives looked for him last week and they just missed him. I'm sure he doesn't have too many options at this point, where he will be hard to find.”
Matthew Morris is 24-years-old, he's 5’ 11” and weighs around 155 pounds.
If you have any information about his whereabouts, give the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force a call at 473-7625. All calls will remain confidential.
If caught, it's been noted that the city court judge handling this case will not set bail for Morris.
