Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Police say the latest Fugitive of the Week violated his probation on an assault charge, and they believe he’s also connected to a recent and even more violent crime.
Syracuse police believe his capture will close the books on an unsolved south side shooting.
It was more than a year ago when a neighbor on Cannon Street asking two men about the gunfire he heard unexpectedly met the Fugitive of the Week. Aikeem Hudgins and the man he was with apparently didn't like being questioned; police say the two assaulted the man.
Hudgins was charged with assault and placed on probation, but has not followed probation rules.
It’s just one of the reasons police are on the lookout for him.
They also want to question Hudgins about a shooting that took place last month; the victim was shot in the leg.
Police say Hudgins has had numerous arrests in the past, and was given the opportunity for probation instead of incarceration. “He chose not to follow the rules, so incarceration may be the best bet for him,” said Sgt. Bob Conely with the Fugitive Task Force.
Hudgins is known to frequent Syracuse's south side. He's 5’ 6” and weighs 130 pounds.
Police have spoken to his family and while they've seen him come and go, they haven't been able to provide an address for him.
