Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - We profiled him earlier this month, but police are still looking for a man who calls himself a jack of all trades, who can help you around the house, or even help get a good deal on a used car. However, police warn that he’s not all that he pretends to be.
Christopher Vanetten, 37, is wanted by Onondaga County Sheriff's deputies on a bench warrant for fraud and by State Police for grand larceny.
Anyone who has had dealings with him, should contact authorities.
“He’s done home improvement scams where he has taken the money and not done any home improvements. He’s stolen checks and utilized checks for his own means,” said Fugitive Task Force Supervisor Joe Ciciarelli.
Police say he’s also been involved in an auto-auction scam, telling victims that he has good connections at an auto auction and took their money without giving them a car in return.
According to police, Vanetten has pocketed thousands of dollars through his scams and he’s had plenty of experience. He’s been arrested 17 times and spent time in state prison for fraud and larceny.
“We believe 100 percent he’s out there scamming. He has no means of employment. The last time we knew, he was up in the Cicero area and has since gone off the radar,” Ciciarelli said.
Vanetten was last listed at an address in Cicero. But police say he may now be in the Baldwinsville area.
Anyone with information on him should call the Fugitive Task Force Tip Line at (315) 473-7625.
