Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- This week’s fugitive – 27-year-old Dayquan Vargas – promised to stay drug free, get a job, check in regularly and pay back the money he had stolen. Vargas made the deal to avoid going to prison, but now, the deal may be off.
Vargas was placed on probation in 2007 for five years and he almost made it. He only had a few months to go.
“His sentence would have been done in September 2012. And around 2011, based on the probation reports we have, he started falling off the wagon,” said Fugitive Task Force Supervisor, Joe Ciciarelli.
Vargas had a job, got fired and police say he tested positive for marijuana. He’s no longer living at the address he gave his probation officer.
“We’ve been concentrating our efforts on the East Side of Syracuse, however, he’s moved from that address and we believe he’s still in the area. We haven’t pin pointed a location for him,” Ciciarelli said.
