Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The Fugitive Task Force's primary target is yet another sex offender.
LeRoy Thornton was sent to state prison for attempted sexual abuse of an 8-year-old girl. He was placed on New York's sex offender registry and is required to update his address with local authorities, but has eluded Syracuse Police for months.
"He doesn't seem to stay at any one location, and does have family in the City," said Sgt. John Savage.
Thornton's family was cooperative with police and there are indications he's still in the City of Syracuse.
"He has been arrested three times in the past for failing to register - 20 times in the City - there's a good possibility he will be going back to jail, yes," Savage said.
Thornton is 48-years-old, 5-foot-6, and weighs 180 pounds. The state registry lists his last known Syracuse address as being in the 1000 block of James Street.
Anyone with information on Thornton should call (315) 442-5230.
