Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Domestic violence cases account for nearly half of all of the warrants on file with the Syracuse Police Warrant’s Squad. As we start the new year, a domestic violence case has police putting you on the lookout for a man accused of punching a female acquaintance in the face, breaking her nose.
Rhasheim Rutledge is six-foot-three and weighs 270 pounds. The woman he’s accused of assaulting is five-foot-one and a mere 145 pounds.
Syracuse Police Sergeant John Savage said, “It occurred back in May of this year. He was arrested for the assault in which he punched a female acquaintance of his, breaking her nose and her orbital eye socket.”
Rutledge’s failure to show up in court has put him on the wanted list. He’s just 36 years old and has 41 prior arrests.
“We’ve checked numerous addresses in the city. We’ve spoken with family, none of which has produced any productive leads,” Sgt. Savage said. “It behooves us and it's safer for the public, if we can get him back into custody, back into the criminal justice system.”
