Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Fugitive of the Week Manuel Ramos couldn't take the pressure, Syracuse Police say. He flagged down a marked police car and turned himself in Thursday afternoon.
Back in December, Ramos was arrested during a fugitive roundup. Police say he was violent and abusive toward a girlfriend, allegedly even choking her.
He was taken to court to answer to the charges, but didn't follow through on the court's instructions. That's why he was wanted again this week.
Fugitive of the Week: failed to meet court-ordered obligations
April 26
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police are asking for help to catch another fugitive. He has failed to meet the obligations set forth after an earlier arrest.
"This week, we're putting viewers on the lookout for Manuel Ramos," said Sgt. John Savage of Syracuse Police.
He's also known as Manny Ramos.
Back in December, Ramos was arrested during a fugitive roundup filmed by NewsChannel 9 cameras. He wasn't happy to see us at the arrest, and spit on the camera.
Ramos was arrested because police say he was violent and abusive toward a girlfriend. He allegedly even choked her.
He was taken to court to answer to the charges, but hasn't followed through on the court's instructions.
"He failed to meet the obligations that the court set forth for him to follow as a result of that arrest, so now there's a new arrest warrant for him," Sgt. Savage said.
Ramos' girlfriend claims they're no longer together, and that she doesn't know where Ramos could be. Police say there are no caution indicators on him, but based on the encounter last December Sgt. Savage advises caution.
"I would say he is prone to violent outbursts, and given the right set of circumstances, that could be with anybody," Sgt. Savage said.
Ramos is 32 years old, is 5'11" tall and weighs 245 pounds.
