Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A man police believe was involved in a shooting on Salt Springs Road has turned himself in.

Police believe 26-year-old Carl Newton shot 47-year-old Wilfred Roman in the stomach when a dispute over money escalated.

Roman was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Police say after Roman recovered from the gunshot wound, he identified Newton as the shooter.

According to police, the former NewsChannel 9 Fugitive of the Week turned himself in on Aug. 29.
