jonesee, this has nothing to do with not having the clay police. you can have a army in clay and if they want to break in they will. walking into a house at 1 am with people inside sleeping. i don't think not having the clay police would stop that. but then again you probably want turf football fields and lighting and all the rest of the goodies.including low taxes?

Depends on how they are trained Postman :-)

In MOST cases your dogs won't do any good during the day if you aren't home and the thief brings a box of dog biscuits.

jonesee....Clay not having it's own police force has nothing to do with it. I see just as many sheriff patrols and I did when we had the Clay Clowns. These thieves are moving up. A few months ago they were targeting rented storage units stealing the same type of stuff, tools, power equipment etc. Now that they have worn out their "welcome" at those places, they are moving on to homes. People need to use common sense. Lock doors & windows, install deadbolts, if you have sliders put a board in the track so the door can't be opened from the outside. Shed are being left unlocked, lock them. A little common sense goes a long way. Also, neighbors have to stop being so into themselves and start keeping an eye out for the unusual. If you see a vehicle that you have never seen before take note of it. If something doesn't seem right it usually isn't.

Well unfortunately most burglars aren't interested in reading people's comments about arming themselves because they are too busy arming themselves and planning there next target. All you have to do is stand on the corner of our development and see that 9 of the 10 homes owners leave for work at 8 and aren't back till it's dinner time. I do have two dogs.....and someone found that out when they tried to get in my deck door at about 1 am a few weeks ago. please please if you have a deck slider get a board or stick or something that will fit in the track so that it can not be opened!!!!!!! TODAY DO IT!

How about a camera or motion activated siren? Now that this hit the news the thieves will back off for awhile.

Take away the Clay police force and oh there would be no rise in crime....horsepuckie! I see gang markings on so many buildings in our neighborhoods and burglaries all over the place. Not to mention the dozens of more break in's that haven't been reported. The troopers or sheriffs have been no where to be found unlike their promise they would be as visible...again that is nothing but horsepuckie!! Bring back our town police!!

Remember homeowners, shoot to kill and not to wound...
