Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police say an elderly woman was injured during a robbery on Basin Street Wednesday night.
According to police, the suspect entered the 94-year-old victim’s home at 316 Basin St., Syracuse, around 10:45 p.m. and demanded money. They say the suspect took the woman’s purse and pushed her down, injuring her arm and leg.
He also removed the batteries from the victim’s phone so that she could not call for help.
An upstairs neighbor heard the victim cry out for help and came to her aid. The neighbor also called police.
Police searched the area, but could not find the suspect.
The victim told police that the suspect is black and approximately 40 years old with a medium build. During the robbery, he was wearing a dark winter hat and dark clothing.
Police say they do not believe the woman’s injuries are life threatening.
