Credit card suspect caught, admits to other crimes

DeWitt (WSYR-TV) - Police received several tips after the case of a suspect who used a lost credit card three times was posted to OnTheLookout.net.

Someone watching the video on the website recognized the man as 38-year-old Geoffrey Holgate of Pompey.

DeWitt Police and State Police questioned Holgate and found that not only had be used the victim's credit card at two gas stations and a supermarket in Canastota, he also confessed to burglaries in Madison County, admitting that he sotle a mountain bike, a lawn tractor, and stainless steal grates from homes in Erieville and Lincoln, as well as Pompey in Onondaga County.

DeWitt Police also recovered five handguns.

Holgate is facing charges of burglary, grand larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property. He's currently being held without bail.

DeWitt (WSYR-TV) – Police need your help locating a man Caught on Tape at locations where he's accused of using a lost credit card.

According to police, a man lost his wallet containing the credit card while headed to his job at a Wegmans store on East Genesee Street in DeWitt.

When he realized that he had lost it the next morning, the man called the bank and discovered that the card had been used several times, all on November 4.

DeWitt police are asking the public to stay "On the Lookout" for a male between 20 and 30 years of age. In surveillance photos, the man is wearing a backwards baseball cap, jeans, and black boots, along with a sweater or sweatshirt that says “M.E.I.D. Construction.” The company says that the man caught in the surveillance images does not match any of its employees. Police added that M.E.I.D. has been very helpful during the investigation.

The car was used at two SavOn locations in Canastota and a Tops market.
