Deputies begin annual aerial search for marijuana crops

It's harvest time in central New York -- but not a crop you can buy at the store. From now until October, police are active in the fields for their annual ritual of uprooting marijuana growing operations.

Areial search for pot crops? Really? Is it because they don't have to get out of the copter to deal with the criminal? Here's an idea, go after the dealers on almost every corner of the streets of Syracuse, get the real stuff off the street, or is it much easier to sit in a helicopter chewing on a doughnut saying yup there's some crop there.
