There are bad people in every walk of life, priests molest children, police get arrested for illegal activities, teachers get arrested. Millioniare exec get arrested for fraud . Doctors, nurses are arrested for abuse and drug use. Need I go on ? For as many bad rotten people there are many more good ones trying to make a difference, black or white , high paid or min wage. Each company tries to protect their clients, bottom line is noone really knows what an individual will do until they do it. You can not be watching every employee every second of the day - You do the best you can and hope they will to.

elderly people move things, hide things etc. so this makes it easy to steal write it off to "it will turn up" My advice is take pictures in the house every weekend, its cheap digital photography so you can check on stuff as soon as it comers up missing

speaking on behalf of those companions that are honest.i have to be finger printed, my picture taken, flu shot, tb, test and physical.so, i go threw a long process to do this kind of work. so, please dont sit here and say that people that do this line of work are scum. you can have people like this lady at any job.we as honest people when we go to homes have concerns of our own. one, that a family member can come in and hurt you,two that you can be accused of something that you didnt do, not to mention being subjected to different viruses, diseases such as tb,hiv, aids, hep. so,please dont assume that everyone that is a home companion is like this dirt bag. i do this because i care about people and would rather see them in their own home than a nursing home.

This is why New York State needs a Home Health Aide registry. This happens way more frequently than reported in the news. Something needs to be done to keep these predators out of the homes of vulnerable populations. Hopefully the D.A will make an example of this thief to let other potential thiefs know that this behavior will not be tolerated.
