Phoenix, Oswego County (WSYR-TV) - Phoenix Police Chief Rod Carr wants people to beware of telephone callers soliciting money for his department.

Carr says in recent days, several business people in the area have been asked to donate to a fund to help Phoenix police buy a drug-sniffing dog.

“We don't solicit money and we're not looking to buy a dog,” Carr says.

Anyone with information about the callers is asked to call Phoenix police at 695-2001.
