Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A 23-year-old Syracuse man was shot while inside the S&R Convenience Store on South Avenue Monday night.

Police say Ikeem Vaughn was shot while he stood at the counter. The suspect opened the door to the market and fired several shots at the victim, who was shot in the leg.

The suspect has been described as a light-skinned black man in his late teens to early 20s. He stood about 5’8” tall and had a medium build, according to police. He was wearing a blue or purple hooded sweatshirt and jeans at the time of the incident.

The victim was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he’s expected to be okay, police said.
