Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Police have detained three juveniles in connection to recent armed robberies in the university area.
Syracuse Police say they received a call from a 52-year-old man who said three suspects approached him with a handgun and attempted to rob him on Sept. 1.
Police say the man refused the demand and the suspects ran off.
The suspects were located shortly after and one of them had a BB gun according to police.
Police say the suspects detained were ages 16, 15, and 14.
The 14-year-old suspect detained is being charged in connection to two additional armed robberies, which occurred in the university area on Aug. 29
In both cases, police say the victims were approached by three suspects and forced to hand items over at gunpoint.
No one was injured in the three separate incidents according to police.
All three males were charged with the felony of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, and the 15 year old male was also charged with the misdemeanor of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree.
The 14-year-old was additionally charged with two counts of Robbery in the Second Degree, a felony.
The 14 and 15-year-olds were lodged at the Hillbrook Detention Facility and the 16-year-old was lodged at the Justice Center.
