Camillus (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police are looking for a suspect caught on tape using a stolen credit card.
Police say the card was stolen from the back pocket of a college student during a fight at a downtown pub.
Two hours later, the stolen card ended up in the hands of a Walmart shopper who was caught on tape using the card.
Take a good look at the attached surveillance photo. Police say the male suspect went on a shopping spree with the student’s card at a Camillus Walmart on April 14.
“The suspect that we have caught on tape when and purchased an iPad for over $600, pretty much draining this college girl’s bank account,” Syracuse Police Sergeant Tom Connellan told NewsChannel 9.
Connellan described the suspect as a very heavy set man with a large build and a beard. He was wearing a bright yellow shirt that people might recognize.
Police are also asking store employees to be vigilant.
“We also need stores to be really vigilant. Obviously, the name on the credit card was not the person who used the card,” Sgt. Connellan said.
If you think you know the man pictured, call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
Also, Syracuse Police say it’s always safer to keep your wallet in a front pocket, rather than a back pocket. That way it’s harder to steal.
