Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse police are On The Lookout -- and want students to be as well -- after five armed robberies on the SU hill in just the past month.
The first happened September 7th, and there have been two this week, including one Wednesday night at around 8:30 on Lancaster Avenue.
John Morrow, who was the victim in the robbery, says since the incident, he doesn't feel safe -- even in his own home.
“Ever since it happened, my stomach won't unclench,” Morrow says. “One guy came across to my right so I couldn't move any further, and another guy came here and pulled a gun up to my chest.”
Only after Morrow saw the gun did he realize what was happening.
“I put my hands up, and then the other guy riffled through my pockets and took all my stuff,” Morrow says.
Morrow was robbed at the 900 block of Lancaster Street; it was dark, where street lamps only light certain portions of the neighborhood.
Other students are learning from what happened, and are playing it safe by boarding the free shuttle offered by the Department of Public Safety.
Police believe the five armed robberies are related after all the victims gave similar descriptions of the men, who are described as being around six feet tall, in their 20s and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts during the robberies.
Syracuse police have stepped up their presence in those neighborhoods and are asking anyone with information about the robberies to give them a call at 442-5222.
