SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police are On The Lookout for suspects in two separate attacks that happened on the city's northside Thursday night.  It is not clear if the robberies are related.

The first robbery happened at 9:45 p.m. in the 2500 block of James Street.  Police say a 43-year-old man was walking home from work when two black males attacked him by hitting and kicking him.  The suspects stole cash and a handheld game. The suspects threatened the man with a gun but never showed one.

The man suffered bruises to his face and head.

One suspect is described as being in his twenties, skinny and was wearing a blue, hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

The other suspect is described as being heavy-set, also in his twenties and wearing a tan, Carhartt-type jacket.

About 45 minutes after the robbery, police say a 19-year-old woman was walking home in the 300 block of Nichols Avenue when a black male tried to take her purse.

The suspect knocked her to the ground but police say she fought back and was able to keep the purse. The suspect then ran away.

The teenager suffered scrapes to her side.

The suspect in the second incident is described as being about 5'7'' to 5'9'' tall and was wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.

Both cases are under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Syracuse Police at 315-442-5222. All calls will be kept confidential.
