Utica Police: Woman robbed at knifepoint while walking her dog

UTICA, NY (WSYR-TV) - Utica Police are investigating an armed robbery where a woman was threatened while walking her dog Friday night.

Police say it happened on Barton Avenue, between Genesee Street and Sunset Avenue at around 7:50 p.m.

According to police, a 25-year-old woman was walking her dog when a white man riding a BMX-style bike approached her.

The suspect showed he had a knife and threatened to stab the woman if she did not empty her pockets.

The victim handed over her money and the suspect rode off, heading west on Barton Avenue. 

The suspect is described as being in his mid-twenties, about 5'9'' tall and having a thin build.

Police say he has scruffy, dirty blonde facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a gray and white horizontal striped zip up sweatshirt, blue jeans, and an orange winter hat.

The BMX-style bike he was riding is said to be dark in color.
