Woman accused of soliciting money for living child's funeral

Cortland (WSYR-TV) – The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office is looking for an unidentified woman reportedly soliciting money from area businesses to help pay for the funeral of a child who is still alive.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a Benefit Jamboree for the child is scheduled for Sunday, May 20 from noon until 6 p.m. The child – Lilith Towers – was born with a heart condition and the benefit is being held to help defray medical expenses.

The Sheriff’s Office has received information that the unidentified woman – who has been described as white and in her mid-20s – has been visiting area businesses, saying the child has died in an attempt to solicit money for the child’s funeral expenses.
