Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Have you recently gotten a call from a company offering to clean your chimney for just $35? You’re not alone. A lot of viewers have asked us if this is “The Real Deal.”
The Attorney General’s Office warns you to be careful. In 2010, the company was sued by Maine’s attorney general for unfair and deceptive practices.
A consumer protection office in Connecticut is also investigating Lysco – the company in question. Homeowners tell us the company will schedule an appointment and then end up rescheduling a few times, before they actually show up at your home.
Once at your home, there are reports they’ll do the cleaning and then claim you need repairs worth thousands of dollars.
We tried to get in touch with Lysco, but our calls were not returned. The Attorney General’s Office reminds you that you should be wary of any door-to-door and phone solicitations like this one.
If you’ve had a similar experience and think you were cheated out of money, you can file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office. If there’s something you want “The Real Deal” about, give us a call anytime. The number is 446-9900, or you can email YourStories@9WSYR.com.
