Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- One of our viewers contacted us about an email claiming they were eligible for money in a class action lawsuit against a big company and they want to know if it’s “The Real Deal.”
Well, it is. The suit is Fraley versus Facebook and it centers around the website’s “sponsored stories” – advertising that a business, organization or individual pays for, so there’s a better chance posts will be seen by a target audience.
The proposed settlement for the lawsuit is $20 million.
If your name, profile picture, photographs, likeness or identity were featured in one of Facebook’s “sponsored stories” without your consent, you could be eligible for a pay-out of up to $10. You can access the claim form at

The proposed settlement covers as many as 125 million users. If too many people submit claims, the settlement money may instead go to a charity.
