East Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – General Motors is rolling out its 60-day trial offer on almost all 2012 and 2013 Chevrolet cars and trucks.

The program allows you to buy a vehicle and, as long as you meet certain guidelines, return it within 60 days for the price of the car.

There are special placards hanging from the rear-view mirrors of cars included in the program. The top price on the placards is the manufacturer’s suggested retail price and the price below is what the customer pays. Prospective buyers who want to participate in the 60-day return program add another $500 to the price. Those who want to take the car without the plan, pay the listed price.

The “love-it-or-return-it” offer comes with a mileage limit. The car can’t be returned if it has more than 4,000 miles on it. There is also a damage limit of no more than $300. Any accident nullifies the offer.

The deal is not good on leased vehicles. GM also rolled out this program in 2009 and less than one percent of the customers returned their vehicles.

“When we did it last time, it did drive business and I think it will drive business now,” said Gino Barbuto of East Syracuse Chevrolet. “I think it speaks in leaps and bounds for our product. Here’s what we’re willing to give you to show you our product is as good as anything else out there.”

The incentive is good for any car on the lot, including heavy duty trucks.

Customers who return the vehicle within 30 days will receive the buyback price, which includes what they paid for the vehicle plus the sales tax. Those who return it within 60 days will not receive the sales tax refund.
