Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A viewer has been receiving repeated, unsolicited calls offering a grocery voucher and a free medical alert bracelet. They want to know if it is The Real Deal.
It is not. The Better Business Bureau has been warning consumers about the deceptive calls targeting seniors for some time.
In many cases, seniors are asked to provide their bank account or credit card information to verify their identity only to find they are subsequently charged a monthly service fee - usually around $35.
In the meantime, the medical alert system either never arrives or the customer has trouble returning it and obtaining a refund. If there's something you want The Real Deal about, call (315) 446-9900 or you email YourStories@9wsyr.com.
