Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A lawsuit claiming the company Groupon had illegal and undisclosed expiration dates and restrictions on its vouchers appears to be reaching its conclusion.
A proposed settlement of $8.5 million could be approved at a final hearing, which is scheduled for Sept. 23.
The lawsuit applies to anyone who bought a Groupon deal between November 2008 and December 1, 2011.
Those who want to pursue their own legal action against Groupon can file paperwork excluding them from the current suit by July 27. Those who want to remain a part of the broader lawsuit but disagree with certain elements can formally “object” to it.
Once the settlement is approved, the court will set a deadline for complainants to file for a settlement voucher and refunds.
