Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Sometimes job postings are too good to be true, even if they’re posted by a reputable source online.
One of our viewers contacted us about a job she saw for a front desk/receptionist position while searching jobs on a newspaper’s website. The weekly rate she said was $630, which sounded like a great opportunity, so she applied.
After applying, she says an entrepreneur by the name of Amanda said she needed a personal assistant to manage her busy schedule. She laid out the responsibilities of the job and said she looked forward to working with our viewer.
No interview was needed and our viewer got the job. That’s a sure sign that the job is not The Real Deal. Also, the employer said one of her clients would be sending our viewer a check to make a few purchases.
There’s no telling for sure, but those checks could have been fraudulent if cashed and our viewer would have been responsible for returning any money she had spent or returned to her employer.
