Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Dozens of insurance agents across New York have been busted by the State Insurance Department for taking kickbacks for steering customers to certain glass repair shops.
Forty seven agents will have to pay fines to the state for accepting $50 to $200 gift cards in exchange for pushing certain businesses.
It's not illegal for repair facilities to offer incentives to attract business, so they're not in trouble, but it is against state insurance laws for insurance agents to accept them.
