Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A NewsChannel 9 viewer says her son recently received two letters notifying him that he has been denied credit by a major retailer.
A host of reasons were given in the letter including the number of auto, lease, mortgage, and home equity accounts.
The viewer’s son, however, has none of those accounts. He’s a full-time student with only student loans.
According to financial expert Rick Reagan, you should always check your son’s free annual credit report at www.AnnualCreditReport.com
Then, request a free score at CreditKarma.com
and compare that to the score on the letters received in the mail.
From there, you should be able to get a good view of your financial standing.
If there are issues, contact the credit reporting agencies – Equifax, Experian, and Trans-Union – directly.
