Lottery Scams:

"You won a million dollars....all you have to do is cash this thousand dollar check and wire some of it back to us as a "processing" fee ...then we'll send you your money."  It sounds too good to be true...and it is!  You can't win a lottery you don't enter so if a letter and a fake check shows up in your mailbox or inbox claiming you did...it's a scam.  The check is bogus but you don't know that until a week after you've deposited it and withdrawn the money.  You're now responsible to pay the bank back and don't count on those lottery winnings because the scammer is long gone.

If you get one of these bogus offers, shred it or delete it.

If you fall victim to a Lottery Scam:

Contact your Local Police Department.  Depending on where you wired the money they may or may not be able to help you file a report.
