Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - After three years, people who are part of a class-action suit against DeBeers Diamond Co. may be just a few months away from seeing their share of the settlement.

The $300 million settlement for consumers and businesses was approved in 2008 after the company was accused of price fixing and false advertising. DeBeers denied any wrongdoing and the case was stalled by appeal after appeal. But last week, the US Supreme Court denied the company’s final petition.

Those who believe they are entitled to money from the settlement must have filed their claims within the last few years for any diamond purchased from the company between 1994 and 2006.

The claims administrator is now conducting final audits before the money is distributed in the next few months. Until then, claimants will not know how much money they will receive.

Updates can be tracked at the class action lawsuit’s website.
