Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – NewsChannel 9 viewer John Seargent recently called after his competitor coupon from BJ’s was turned down at Price Chopper. He wants to know if the grocery store he usually frequents is no longer accepting competitor coupons.
According to Price Chopper staff, the company continues to accept competitors’ coupons, but they have refined their policy.
The coupon – no matter where it is from – must now state the size of the product being discounted.
Some club stores – such as BJs – will issue coupons without any mention of the product’s size. The problem emerges when the difference is between a coupon that offers $2 off BJ’s two-and-one-half-pound boxes of Cheerios and Price Chopper’s one-pound boxes.
