Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – NewsChannel 9
told viewers last week that Apple has agreed to compensate more than 21 million iPhone 4 users whose smart phone models had problems with reception.
The settlement provides owners with $15 or a free bumper. However, some iPhone 4 users already have a bumper because of an earlier program that was instituted shortly after the first problems were reported.
Here’s the Real Deal: those who received bumpers under the previous arrangement are also eligible for the $15 compensation, as long as they are the original owner of the device and didn’t purchase it from someone else.
iPhone owners with a valid claim will receive an email from Apple. The company has an April 30 deadline to contact owners and they have 120 days to respond.
Apple is expected to launch a website soon with more information.
