Manlius (WSYR-TV) – A Verizon’s FiOS service arrives in 182 towns, villages, and cities across New York State, Manlius residents are wondering if their municipality will be among them.
A spokesman for Verizon says that residents in the town of Manlius may have a long wait before FiOS will be available.
The spokesman said that under the franchise agreements already in place with the 182 municipalities, the company must build out to reach 100 percent of the town, village, or city within five years. Most of the agreements were signed over a five-year period starting in 2006 and the company is only just now beginning to meet its existing commitments.
The Verizon spokesman said that it will remain focused on those deals and that it is not seeking any new franchises.
