Moravia, Cayuga County (WSYR-TV) - Cayuga County has 4,000 doses of the vaccine to offer at its school flu clinics. The first one was held Thursday in Moravia.
The shot may have been a pain for the kids, but it was a relief for their parents. With either a squirt, or a pinch, a lot of parents like Holly Sorrell could breathe a sigh of relief today. “I've been calling the doctors and every time I call they don't have any openings, they have no swine flu shots, they have no supply,” Sorrell said.
The clinic at Moravia High School Thursday afternoon had more than enough to cover the steady stream of families. It was just the first of eight school flu clinics in Cayuga County, but just how long the county's allotment will last changes by the minute. “Different information comes to us from the state from the Federal government as far as when we should receive and how much we should receive,” Said Kathleen Cuddy, Deputy Director of Health Services.
The department says they hope that every child - from kindergarten to 12th grade - who wants a shot, can get one by the end of next week.
