Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – NewsChannel 9 asked Facebook users what the best ride was at the State Fair this year and we compiled the responses into the top five Fair rides.
The price of credits for rides is 50-cents each, but some rides require 12 credits.
When you’re paying $6 for a ride, you want the most excitement for your hard earned cash.
In terms of cost, The Top Spin has the top value on the midway.
“It's the largest portable Top Spin in the United States. We are the only company moving one. About $2.9 million brand new, sitting in Europe before you bring it over. It is the most expensive ride we've ever purchased,” said Strates Shows General Manager, George Weston.
Any good fair requires a mix of thrill rides and the classics, from roller-coasters to swings.
The Sky Flyer always has one of the highest rider counts, offering a smooth spin and a good view.
But, the top attraction by far is a fair staple, the Giant Wheel consistently get more riders than any other midway thriller.
The Giant Wheel at the State Fair is one of the largest portable wheels in the world with 144 people able to ride at a time.
It’s a popular attraction because everybody in the family can ride it and it goes 126 feet in the air, with a $300,000 light show each night.
If you're looking for more action, the Tumblers get the most buzz.
Add a little music and speed to your spin and you have the KMG Fireball, a ride that goes so fast and so high that 5,000 gallons of water is pumped into the base to weigh it down so riders don't fly off course.
The Space Roller is one of the Strates Shows newer rides. It was so popular last year, they brought it back for riders who like to go backward, upside-down, and spin around at the same time.
The thrills are not hard to find, if you're willing to pay the price.
If you have the stomach to ride extensively, the best value is the wrist band for $25.00 that allows you unlimited rides for one day.
But, keep in mind they'll be only be available tomorrow and Thursday, not during the weekend.
