Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Christmas is nearly two weeks in the past and now Central New Yorkers are looking to get rid of their trees.

Most communities provide curb-side pick-up for trees. People who want to take advantage of the service should contact their local highway department or DPW for details.

In Syracuse, DPW crews are collecting trees until there aren’t any more left on the city’s streets.

In Camillus, residents have the option of dropping off their trees behind the highway department building on Milton Avenue.

In DeWitt and Cicero, residents have until the end of the month to put their tree on the curb.

The deadline for anyone wanting to drop off their Christmas trees at one of OCRRA’s composting sites is Jan. 12. Those trees are recycled into mulch.
