Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A decades-old restaurant in Jamesville has closed its doors, leaving at least one bride and groom-to-be scrambling to find a replacement venue in less than a month.
The invitations have already been mailed for the wedding of Dan Walser and Amanda Sakowski set for September 7, 2013.
The married couple-to-be thought everything was ready, until Dan heard from his father that the Glen Loch had closed.
“He said, ‘Well the Glen Loch is closed, where are you going to have your wedding?’ That was the first I heard of it,” Dan said.
Dan and his father took a drive to the Jamesville restaurant and found a "for sale" sign posted.
The restaurant was put on the market on Monday for $1.1 million, with no notification to customers.
“The scenery is beautiful. It's everything we ever wanted and we envisioned together,” Amanda said.
Dan and Amanda already paid the entire bill of nearly $8,000.
“We had to get our payment in one day before they put the locks on the place,” Dan said.
The couple says they have still yet to hear from management.
The restaurant’s owner is using a lawyer to handle his already contracted clients
A phone call to the lawyer was no help.
Others reportedly will be able to have their wedding there.
Dan and Amanda say they have been told their wedding is likely not eligible - but they weren't given an explanation as to why.
The restaurant's attorney tells them to go through "other means" to get their money back.
The couple is panicking as they try to find a place for their wedding in three weeks.
“Called a bunch of different venues, trying to find someone not booked three weeks from now, which is pretty difficult,” Dan said.
“I just want to get married to the man that I love,” Amanda said.
NewsChannel 9 attempted to contact the Glen Loch's owner, Tim Barr, and his attorney, Joe Demari, both of whom did not return phone calls or emails.
Dan and Amanda are hoping that someone can help them salvage their wedding plans. They can be contacted by phone at (315) 447-9961 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org
