Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Question
: Why are crews digging on Onondaga Community College’s campus? Answer
: The college's communications coordinator says the work is happening at the Furnace Brook House and it will serve as a real world lab environment providing education and workforce development for Smart Grid Technology.
Students will be able to monitor, control and analyze energy usage throughout the home.
OCC received the money for the project as part of a Department of Energy grant headed by Syracuse University.
The rest of the money will go towards course development, preparing technicians to handle all of the Smart Grid Technology needed for residences and small businesses. If you have a question for the Your Stories team, call (315) 446-9900 or email YourStories@9wsyr.com.
