Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A NewsChannel 9 viewer in Liverpool recently received a pedicure at a nail salon, but noticed that their license was not posted anywhere for customers to see.

The Department of State says that all nail  salons are considered to be appearance-enhancement businesses and must have their licenses in order to operate.

The law requires that the license certificate be posted in a place that’s easy for customers to see.

If they’re not, the salons could be fined or even have their licenses removed. The consequences will depend on the circumstances and whether or not the business has had violations in the past.

If you go to a salon and the license isn’t visible, you can file a complaint with the Department of State’s Licensing Division.
