Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Question:
Do motorcycles fail to trigger changes at street lights?Answer:
According to Syracuse Department of Public Works Commissioner Pete O’Connor, the type of vehicle shouldn’t make any difference.
He explained that traffic loops are squares cut into the road with wire running through.
If a vehicle of any size goes over the line, it should send a message to the control box, triggering the signal change.
But motorists – including motorcycle operators – must still be patient, he says. The lights in the city of Syracuse run on loops that range from one to two minutes.
If the light continues to stay the same color, you should call the county or state highway department. If you have a question for the Your Stories team, call (315) 446-9900 or email YourStories@9wsyr.com
